BASIC FLOWER ARRANGING EIGHT WEEK CLASS OUTLINE

Day 1 Introduction and tour of the facility Tools and use of the knife Bud vase of 3 carnations and #3 bow Round arr. OF#73 dish, 3 leather leaf, 6 carnations, 3 stems of pom poms, and two stems of baby's breath. Do video on color; review the flower names, demo taping of a candle.

Day 2 Review day 1 Video on the care of fresh flowers The eight principles of design. Demo pricing of the flowers. The triangle arr. #73 dish, 5 carnations, 3 stems of mini carnations, #3 bow, line, focal, filler. View the video on ribbons, and redo the arrangement as an asymmetrical Triangle.

Day 3 Review the 8 principles of design, color, line focal and filler flowers Video on designs Make a round arr. As we did in week 1 and add alstromeria Video on one-sided arr. Make the arr. using 9 carnations of one color and 3 of another color.

Day 4 Video on hand tied bouquets Make a hand tied bouquet #53-1 using 12 stems of flowers. Do the hand tied as a vase arrangement, the #9 bow and tulle puff. Show the video on corsages, each person should make a boutonniere.

Day 5 Video on Topiaries Make the Topiary arr. using 6 carnations and other flowers at the bottom. Brad the #3 ribbon down the stem, and add other flowers to the bottom. Video on wedding bouquets #1. Make the bouquet to toss or do the round as a cone shape in a basket.

Day 6 Video on designing with roses. Do the 12 roses as presentation and then do box of 12 roses and show the pull bow and demo the #40 bow. Make a vase using 12 roses Do the bud vase of 3 roses and a #3 bow. Bring in your own vase and silk flowers for next week.

Day 7 Video on silk designs. Do the silk design Re-do the silk wedding designs

Day 8 Demo of the fruit basket - Line design arrangement Each person will do a vase arrangement to take home. Certificates presented.

INTERMEDIATE FLOWER ARRANGING CLASS OUTLINE

Day 1 Flower grouping, types of space, positing, negative, void. There are four types of lines - vertical, horizontal, dagonal and curved.

Day 2 Study botanical, natural, landscape and vegetative design styles. Take a flower signature test. Study the 13 forms, shapes, lines etc. Watch the video on Vegetative.

Day 3 Study interpretive oriental design and the study of dynamic and static line. Watch the video called ribbon magic. Do 2 #9 bows, to use in a funeral spray, then redo as basket, then do as an open triangle.

Day 4 Do novelty designs adn accessories like fruit, plush, gourmet, and balloons. We will also introduce the ice-cream soda, happy birthday cake, boxwood tree and flowers and latex, air filled balloons.

Day 5 Do Exotic flowers and the video Hawaii flowers. Arrangements can be done at price points. The video called designing with cymbidium orchids. Try using lilies and foliage and alstromeria. In the p.m. do the centerpiece with candles.

Day 6 Funeral Flower video, and do an introduction to funeral and sympthy flowers. Do a funeral basket, than redo it as an open triangle using 12 car, snap, and mini car. Then do a wedding item.

Day 7 Silk arrangements like the wreath, swag, arch, and church flowers. Videos like silk flower designs, spring wreaths' and casket sprays. If time do a toss bouquet or maid. They should bring their own silks and a container.

Day 8 Advanced design styles like shadowing and waterfall. Watch the video about interior displays. Cover binding, banning and pave. Then wedding flowers and designs.
